I now feel physically attractive for the first time in years. People tell me I look so different they wouldn’t recognize me. A cousin actually said that to me. I could be offended but I know what he means:) I’ve healed all evidence of disease activity related to ulcerative colitis. It is the first time the doctor has ever said that my colonoscopy showed no major inflammation.
Before working with Beth, I felt totally frustrated and stuck in my life. I was obsessed with my terrible relationship with food and felt that I would never move forward in the other aspects of my life if I didn’t learn to have a healthier relationship. I felt like it had been a problem for so long and I had tried so many things that I would never be able to figure it out.
I “knew” what foods were healthy but I couldn’t seem to put it into practice. I constantly felt I was failing myself and that would make me want to eat comfort food. It was a constant vicious cycle. I had been making disempowering choices for so long I forgot what it felt like to feel empowered My relationship with my body, career and life were all similarly dysfunctional (not surprisingly, since one of the biggest things I learned from Beth is “how you do one thing is how you do everything”).
I now feel physically attractive for the first time in years. People tell me I look so different they wouldn’t recognize me. A cousin actually said that to me. I could be offended but I know what he means:) I now feel that with steady work and the right approach, I can accomplish things that are important to me EVEN IF I was not able to meet that goal in the past. I’m so proud of how much I cook now, after not cooking at all for nearly 6 years! I’ve healed all evidence of disease activity related to ulcerative colitis. It is the first time the doctor has ever said that my colonoscopy showed no major inflammation. I’ve discovered that it’s possible to examine your own thoughts and have major realizations about the “stories” that you assume to be true and how these stories can keep you from moving forward in your life. As a result, I’ve created a new career path. I have a whole different way of interacting with the world.
Beth’s approach is unique in that it’s an approach that focuses on taking responsibility for your life while, amazingly, not blaming yourself or feeling bad about yourself. It’s not waiting for anyone around you to change or your circumstances to change. It’s totally empowering because it teaches you the difference between what you can and can’t control and introduces you to a lot of tools to change the way you think and that leads to changing the way you act and the decisions that you make. And no matter if something doesn’t go the way you wanted it to, or you didn’t make an empowering choice – you can change it for yourself any day; every day is another opportunity to be empowered in your choices.
