Before I worked with Beth I had low energy, low confidence and had unhealthy habits. I struggled with information given to me by books, TV and magazines about what I should eat or what I should do to be a better, healthier person. I felt overwhelmed and confused.

I struggled with understanding my body and what it needed and turned to food(especially late at night) when food wasn’t what I was really looking for. I work in the circus where all the performers are athletes. They are fit and strong and I felt small, weak and less confident in how I looked. I wanted in the end to be happy with myself – how I looked, felt and presented myself. I had grand ideas of the type of person I wanted to be, especially at work. I wanted to be respected and a leader but never felt like I could actually have that. I didn’t know this at the time but my biggest challenge was with myself.  I thought my main issues were with my eating too much chocolate and pita chips but really it was so much more than that. The truth was, my relationship with my body was almost non-existent. I hadn’t even thought of what kind of relationship I wanted with my body. When I contacted Beth, I was getting sick from what I ate and I didn’t know what to do.

Within the first few weeks I noticed a huge change in my energy levels. Taking care of my body made a bigger impact than I could have imagined. At first, changing my routine or lack of routine was tough. The late night hamburgers and sweet potato fries were hard to pass up! But I realized throughout that I stopped craving those things. The healthier options made me feel much better.

I’ve discovered that I can be confident about myself at work.  I discovered that my choices can help my confidence along the way. I can go throughout the day strong with the right attitude.While working with Beth and changing my habits, my goals also changed. What I wanted in the beginning – to lose weight and have more confidence – shifted towards the end. She helped me to believe in myself. I can now understand that having a relationship with my body is not only about eating the right foods but also being aware and balanced in all aspects of life.

I’m most proud of reaching out to Beth for help. Being vulnerable and asking for help was never easy for me but she made me feel comfortable and taught me it’s ok to let my guard down.

I can go throughout the day strong with the right attitude. A few weeks ago, my boss went on vacation and left me in charge of a whole department and I was terrified. But Beth talked me through it and when my boss went away again recently I was totally calm, collected and feeling like A LEADER.  I now have a confidence in myself that I’ve never had before. That confidence has helped my relationships at work and in my personal life.

Beth listened to me with care and interest when I was falling apart and rallied for me when I needed it. She put herself out there and made me feel as though I was talking to a close friend. Working with Beth helped me change my view of myself and what I can capable of. With Beth as my guide, I was able to accomplish more than I had set out for myself and I couldn’t have done it without her.
